What you need to know about showing your home

We’ve talked a lot about getting your home ready to sell but what we haven’t talked about is what happens after the sign goes in the yard and people start scheduling appointments to see the home. Here are a few things to keep in mind.

  • It’s important to be as accommodating as possible. We don’t want to turn anyone down, depending on their schedules they may not make it back another day or another time.
  • More than one showing can happen at a time. I know we all prefer to look at the home in private but it does happen and Realtors will make it work. If I’m showing a home at the same time as another party we typically introduce ourselves and agree to start in the basement or upstairs to give each other space and privacy to view the home.
  • Not every agent is going to remember to leave a card, it happens. I have to admit, I’ve been guilty of this one.
  • And finally feedback doesn’t come immediately, you have to remember that buyers and Realtors are often looking at more than one house and the Realtor typically doesn’t fill out the feedback forms until they are back at their desk.
